Colin Montgomerie rewards heroes of grass roots golf

Colin Montgomerie presented various awards in recognition of service to grass routes junior golf at the Golf Foundation President's Awards on Wednesday.
A total of nine awards were given out at the function in Wentworth Club's Ballroom, recognising those people - ranging from volunteers and PGA Professional to schoolteachers - who dedicate time and enthusiasm to grass roots golf.
The Foundation's President, former Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie, greeted each winner on stage.
Montgomerie supports the Foundation's aim to make the game more accessible to children from all backgrounds and circumstances through its 'HSBC Golf Roots' programme.
He commended the good work of the award recipients, who have all helped to significantly advance the Foundation's cause in schools, communities and golf clubs.
The Foundation's Chief Executive, Mike Round, added all the award winners were the best in the world in their own endeavours; work which can change the lives of young people as they grow in the sport.
"I'm talking about the group of people who are absolutely and completely dedicated to grass roots junior golf. I'm amazed what they're able to achieve," he said.

"All the winners have done tremendous work as part of our programme and I hope this inspires everyone here, and golfers everywhere, to support HSBC Golf Roots for the good of the game and the next generation of young players."
