Lawrie re-signs with Wilson Staff
European Ryder Cup player Paul Lawrie has signed a new deal with Wilson Staff ahead of the 39th Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club
Paul Lawrie has signed a new multi-year deal with with Wilson Staff just four days before the start of the 39th Ryder Cup at Chicago's Medinah Country Club.
The 1999 Open Champion, who made his debut at Brookline the same year, is part of the European team hoping to retain the Ryder Cup after victory at Celtic Manor in 2010.
Lawrie, 43, will continue to use Wilson Staff irons, carry his distinctive Wilson bag and branded cap and promote the brand during tournament play around the world.
"Wilson Staff clubs have been central to me playing the best golf of my career, so I'm delighted to be able to commit to the brand once again," said Lawrie.
"Wilson golf has won more majors than any other brand and I would love to add another major title to the list using my FG Tour irons - by far the best set of irons, in terms of feel and performance, that I've ever played."
The latest agreement comes 19 years after the Aberdonian first signed with the leading major-winning brand and nearly three years after he re-signed to use Wilson Staff FG Tour irons and wedges.
Doug Wright, Business Director of Wilson Golf in Europe, said: "Paul's record with his Wilson Staff irons in recent seasons speaks volumes for the clubs and his consistency with them.
