Callaway has announced the launch of the highly-anticipated Big Bertha and Big Bertha Alpha drivers.

Big Bertha:

A key feature of the revamped Big Bertha is Adjustable Perimeter Weighting - an innovative sliding weight that can be moved around the driver's perimeter to help produce longer, straighter drives.

The 8g sliding weight can be moved to any location on an approximately five-inch track to help optimise shot shape and control dispersion.

This helps give the new-look Big Bertha a high Moment of Inertia (MOI), which helps retain ball speed and accuracy on hits across the entire surface of the face.

According to Callaway, the Adjustable Perimeter Weighting is an essential component of a 'total performance driver' - a model that provides a balance of speed and control designed for the broadest segment of the player population.

Other features of the new Callaway Big Bertha include hyper speed face technology and an advanced adjustable hosel.

The hyper speed face is extremely lightweight and robust to help deliver increased ball speeds across the entire face. It uses an optimisation code to determine the thickness profile of the face.

The advanced adjustable hosel enables golfers to independently adjust loft and lie angle.

Golfers can choose from four lofts (-1 to +2) and two different lies (D for 'draw' and N for 'neutral'), which combine to give players eight unique driver combinations.

What's more, these changes can be achieved without having to rotate the shaft on its axes between settings.

The crown of the Big Bertha is constructed from a high-strenght, lightweight composite material, which keeps the driver head under 200g.

The Callaway Big Bertha driver will be available from February 14 at a RRP of £349.

Big Bertha Alpha:

The Callaway Big Bertha Alpha is the first driver to enable independent adjustments of four performance characteristics - loft, lie, GC (draw) bias and CG height.

As well as the hyper speed face and advanced adjustable hosel, the Alpha comes with CG bias and gravity control adjustability.

The driver's new gravity core enables golfers to adjust spin independently of launch angle to help find optimal distance for a wide range of players' abilities.

The gravity core comes in the form of a carbon tube that connects the crown and sole. It has a tungsten end (10.5g) and a glass fibre reinforced body (1.5g).

It can be inserted into the driver in two different ways to change the vertical centre of gravity and alter spin rates.

In terms of GC bias, the Big Bertha Alpha has a screw port in the heel and toe, which comes with four interchangeable weights for flexibility in both shot shape and head weight.

Callaway's Big Bertha Alpha will also be available from February 14 at a recommended price of £399.
