A look back at the final day's action in the Volvo World Matchplay Championship at the London Golf Club in Kent

Mikko Ilonen secured his fifth European Tour title after defeating Henrik Stenson in the final of the Volvo World Match Play Championship at the London Golf Club in Kent.

The Fin closed out his fellow Scandinavian on the 17th hole to claim a famous 3&1 victory and record his second European Tour title of the season and a third in the last 18 months.

He won the Nordea Masters last June and this year's Irish Open at Fota Island.

Ilonen beat the hitherto undefeated Joost Luiten in the semi-final, while Stenson holed a 20-footer on the 18th green to see off South African George Coetzee in the other semi.

Stenson seemed to be battling both his swing and the conditions during the final, but Ilonen retained the solidity that had characterised his path to the tournament-concluding game.

He went three up at the 14th and closed out the contest with a conceded birdie at the short par-4 17th to complete the biggest victory of his career.
