Minjee Lee: 20 Things You Didn't Know About The LPGA Tour Golfer

Minjee Lee is one of the biggest names not only on the LPGA Tour but also in the world of women's golf due to her successful career which spans almost a decade.
Yet, if you don't know all that much about the Australian or just want to know a little bit more, keep reading to discover something new on either her life or career.
Minjee Lee facts:
1. Minjee Lee was born in Perth, Western Australia on May 27, 1996.
2. Lee's parents, Soonam and Clara Lee, were both from Korea and emigrated to Australia in the early 1990s.
3. She started playing golf at the age of 10 after her mother, who used to teach at the local driving range, got her into the game.
4. She became the youngest ever Western Australia Women's Amateur winner in 2010 while still at school.
5. She won the Australian Women's Amateur in 2013 and 2014.

6. In 2014, she won the Oates Vic Open whilst still an amateur - and that win propelled her to the number-one-ranked amateur in the world.
7. Just before turning pro in 2014, she led Australia to victory at the women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy, and she finished second in the individual competition to Brooke Henderson.
8. Minjee tied-1st at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament in 2014 to earn her 2015 LPGA Tour card.
9. Her younger brother Min Woo Lee is also a professional golfer, and won his maiden European Tour title at the 2020 Vic Open - which Minjee also played in.
10. Minjee won the 2013 US Girls' Junior and Min Woo won the 2016 US Junior Amateur, making them the first brother and sister to win USGA junior championships.
11. Her maiden LPGA Tour title came at the 2015 Kingsmill Championship, where she beat So-yeon Ryu by two strokes.
12. Lee has claimed two Major titles to date - the 2021 Evian Championship and the 2022 US Women's Open. At the Evian, Minjee Lee came from seven shots back during the final round to defeat Jeong-eun Lee in a playoff.
13. She set a new scoring record 13-under-par/271 in her US Open victory.
14. She represented Australia at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
15. She was the first woman to win the Greg Norman Medal in 2018 - awarded to the best Australian golfer for the year.
16. She donated to Golf Australia's Give Back scheme in 2021, giving some of her winnings back to help fund elite amateur golf in Australia.
17. She describes herself as an introvert.
18. Her golfing role models growing up were Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
19. She has accumulated over $14.5 million in career earnings.
20. She qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics alongside Hannah Green. Her brother Min Woo also made the Australian men's team.
