It’s the early 1990s. Two kids are at the range. They’re brothers. Golf obsessed. Play and compete. Play and compete. They grow up with the game. One, Ryan, goes on to become a professional. Jason, will be his caddie. They travel the world, play Major Championships and achieve great success. It’s not a bad life, but there’s something missing: a golf shoe they actually enjoy wearing. So, in 2009, after a few rounds of links golf, a group of innovators huddle around a coffee table and design one. A year later, the TRUE Tour (T1) is born.

This is the remarkable story of how TRUE (TRUE Linkswear) came into being. Ryan Moore is now a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, a Ryder Cup player who secured the crucial point in the 2016 showdown. Off course, he and Jason have established a foothold in golf with its modern, walking-focused footwear. Not just shoes, either, because five years ago the Pacific Northwest brand expanded from the ground up, so golfers can now kit themselves out head to toe in some eye-catching golf gear.

TRUE is not your traditional golf brand. Its “undying love for the game” is encapsulated in a unique 'Dead Golfer' logo (a skeleton frozen mid-swing), and this month the brand is paying homage to its favorite dead linksman with the release of a limited edition collection of footwear, apparel, headwear and accessories, otherwise known as the ‘Dead Golfer Collection’.

The two footwear items are sure to turn heads. Firstly, there's the new TRUE All Day Knit 3, a perfect example of what the brand stands for. The minimalist design allows this shoe to move from the street to the course, and whilst created with all day wear in mind, the rubber outsole and directional grip combine to offer impressive stability on the golf course.

Then there’s the TRUE Lux Hybrid, one of the brand’s flagship models, and a shoe that features in our 2023 Editor’s Choice Awards. It’s lightweight and fully waterproof, built for performance on the course as well as a comfortable walk off it, a hybrid that successfully straddles the line of on/off course versatility. With its playful skeleton treatment along the uppers and a monochromatic print, these shoes make a statement, especially with the unique black colorway.

True Linkswear Hoodie

If you really want to stand out from the crowd, there’s also the TRUE Lux hoodie. Available in a range of colors, this chunky sweater pairs the contoured Dead Golfer logo with a kangaroo pocket along the front. The back features the collection’s motto, reading, in headstone-worthy script, “married to the game” and “‘til death do us part.”

There are numerous other apparel items in the Dead Golfer Collection, such as snapbacks, polo shirts and tee shirts, plus a handful of accessories, including a head cover and whisky glass, all of which feature the brand’s striking logo.

It’s spooky season and the advice from TRUE is to secure your purchase quickly before this gear is eight miles out and six feet under! To show your “undying” love for the sport, visit truelinkswear.com, where, mid month, TRUE will also be releasing an incredibly limited (only 100) collection of Dead Golfer custom irons.

The Moores have won many a fan with their versatile golf shoes and edgy designs, and there's more to come from the brand. If you like what you see, be sure to follow TRUE on social for the latest products and releases.
