Golf Betting Blog: Rose Rules the Roost
Blimey, isn’t everything just heating up at the moment?! We can’t remember the last time so many ‘top’ players were ruling the roost on a regular basis.
Justin Rose throwing his fist pump into the air at the Zurich Classic on Sunday felt like a gentle reminder to the golfing world that he is not going to let Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy take control just yet.
At 10/1 pre-tournament, he was obviously one of the favourites, but it still takes a brave gambler to punt on such low odds (probably on the nose as well!), so kudos to those of you that did.
Not everything went the Englishman’s way though. With a horrendous storm disrupting the whole of Saturday, it was a jam-packed leaderboard going into a 2-round final day.
So many punters would have been on the edge of their seats with many outsiders in the hunt for some returns.

Chesson Hadley (100/1) fluctuated in and out of a place, whilst Blayne Barber (200/1) backers will have been left incredible frustrated after the young American only managed a 70 on Sunday afternoon.
The big move was made by Jim Herman (250/1) who started his last round early and shot up 10 places to grab a tie for fourth. Golf Monthly also added to their ridiculous lead with Cameron Tringale at 45/1, but in some ways could feel aggrieved it wasn’t more.
For us, our main challenger was Daniel Berger at 66/1, who came so close to grabbing a place. He only managed par at the par 5 18th which would have been the difference… When your luck is out, it really is out.
Over in Europe, well China to be exact, it was a native lad that stole the show. Ashun Wu (200/1) became the first Chinese winner on home soil hanging on by a single stroke.
Even more impressive due to the fact three of his closest challengers could definitely be considered amongst the pre-tournament favourites. David Howell at 40/1, Emiliano Grillo at 25/1 and Alexander Levy at 16s.
Both us and Golf Monthly were left disappointed after our main bet Peter Uihlein shot a horrendous 76 on Saturday to drop out of contention… As we said, luck isn’t on our side at the moment.
We can prove that by the current standings:
