Everything went slightly barmy in the world of golf last week and most of us probably thought that it would all end there. Oh, how wrong we were.

After last week's shenanigans, most of us probably thought that it would all end there. Whilst being careful what we say - let's be honest the whole debacle surrounding Robert Allenby and the kidnapping is ridiculously bizarre.  It's become a pantomime ‘did he or didn't he’, but we all hope to find out the truth at his press conference before he tees it up in Phoenix this week.

Good ol' John Daly reminded us of his sporting prowess as well, smoking and slurping on sugared drinks throughout his opening round.

Then there was the fun on the course. On both sides of the Atlantic, there was final round drama, 18th-hole excitement and some solid money returns in the DownThe18th Vs Golf Monthly challenge. For one team, anyway…

Bill Haas (28/1) came out on top at the Humana Challenge, showing some real guts in that final round, having gone into the day in a share for the lead.  The Golf Monthly team had put a stake on the American, but would have been sweating when he found the fairway bunker on the 18th.

To our amazement, he chomped his way out baseball-swing-style, eventually making a crucial par.  A yell at the telly did ensue after...

There were plenty of big returns for anyone who plumped on the outsiders this week; Steve Wheatcroft and Sung Joon Park both at 250/1 finished in a tie for 2nd, whilst Brendan Steele could be found at 150s pre-tournament for his T2 finish.

Over in Europe, Branden Grace (28/1) became the 2nd youngest South African to win 6 European Tour titles with his victory at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.  The audacity to drive the short par 16th to within 5 feet and fight back on the 18th with a miraculous approach shot proved his champion worth, holding off the challengers.

Marc Warren (80/1) pushed him all the way in a thrilling contest, whilst Eddie Pepperell (125/1) backers will be chuffed with his final round efforts.

As we've briefly already mentioned, DownThe18th and Golf Monthly are locking horns each week on both tours in a £10 betting challenge.

In short, we have £10 per tournament to spend on whatever or whoever we want. Most profit wins.  The second week is over now and it's been a poor start from us, made to look a whole load worse thanks to Haas.

A real solid win for the Golf Monthly team, made even worse by the fact our main man Webb Simpson finished 1 shot off a place...
