Golf Betting Blog: Dodt to the rescue
There was movement of tectonic proportions in the £10 weekly challenge as the underdog, the 100/1 shot, Andrew Dodt, gave us our first win in this battle for betting bragging rights.
It's not been easy seeing the likes of Ryan Palmer and Lucas Glover come so close but nothing beats watching your man lift the trophy. Even if it was after getting up at 6am to watch him do so on Sunday morning in Thailand...
All sentiment aside, it was a thriller in Thailand as big names such as Thongchai Jaidee (16/1), Scott Hend (28/1) and Kiradech Aphibarnrat (33/1) were overhauled by the aforementioned Dodt.
Golf Monthly's main pick Miguel Angel Jimenez (30/1) shot a final round 73 and fell down to 7th place.
The cigar-smoking Spaniard is one of our favourites but we couldn't disguise our wry smiles.

The places were rounded out by journeyman American Jason Knutzon (300/1) and a very impressive young Canadian, Richard T Lee (125/1).
Over in America and it was a much more simplistic finish to the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Brandt Snedeker (25/1) never looked like losing from the turn despite our man Nick Watney (33/1) opening up with 4 straight birdies on the final day, going 2 clear at one point. But as we've learned, don't get greedy.
Bill Murray charismatically throwing his pitching wedge was arguably the highlight of our week but Charlie Beljan placing at 500/1 probably gives it a good run.
His 3rd place was off the back of 2 missed cuts and a 66th. It's a funny old game – Beljan is at 66/1 in the build-up to this week's Northern Trust.
The last 3 places in America were filled with Dustin Johnson (16/1) playing alongside his father-in-law, a flu-ridden Jason Day (8/1) and Pat Perez (80/1).
What we all want to know is - what have Dodt and Watney done to the standings? Golf Monthly entered week 5 with a convincing lead of £72. They leave it with a deficit of £5.
That's right, DownThe18th have taken the lead for the first time. Both of us it has to be said are still in profit for the year.
So our £10 battle with Golf Monthly rolls into its 6th week and for the first time we've got our noses in front. Can we build on our lead?
