Betting round-up: Bob Hope Classic and Qatar Masters
Not a week to remember betting wise, but wise punters would have studied form ahead of the Dubai Desert Classic

Generally not a week to remember betting wise, but the wiser punters will have watched some of their picks closely, especially with the Dubai Desert Classic getting under way on Thursday.
Maybe the five-round Bob Hope Classic was a furlong too far for some. The Race to Dubai’s Qatar Masters had a worthy champion in Alvaro Quiros, but our tipster, Paul Krishnamurty, fancied Robert Karlsson at 18/1. The long odds for the European Order of Merit champion were attractive, but the Swede was not at his best at Doha Golf Club.
Back on the PGA Tour and American John Mallinger was tipped at 200/1. There was to be no return for a tied-25th place, despite finishing on 23-under-par. One to watch perhaps.
The Race to Dubai is back this Thursday for the Dubai Desert Classic at the Emirates Golf Club. We’ll have a comprehensive preview and betting guide before all the action gets underway in what promises to be a star-studded field and fiercely contested tournament.
