US Open Fantasy Golf Picks
This week marks the 116th US Open and after last year's controversy at Chambers Bay, the USGA has gone back to its roots with Oakmont.
Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburgh is a tried-and-tested venue - it has hosted more US Opens and championships than any other course. This week will be its ninth US Open.

US Open fantasy picks:
USA 1: Dustin Johnson - DJ should've/could've won the US Open in 2015 as well as a handful of other majors gone by. He's been branded a bottler but to stick around the lead like he did last year and hit two top class shots into the final hole shows he has something about him. We'll give him the benefit of the doubt and blame the greens for that awful three putt. Something's telling me this year could be the one where his talents are finally rewarded.
USA 2: Jordan Spieth - In the last five majors he's won two and hasn't finished outside the top four in the other three. He also could have won this year's Masters had it not been a seven on the 12th hole. He plots his way around golf courses like nobody and is on par with Jason Day as the world's best putter. He comes into the week as defending champion and fresh off a win three weeks ago in his home state of Texas.
GB: Justin Rose - Rose returns after a break with back problems but now fresh he has a good chance this week. The Englishman finished in the top-10 here back in 2007 at +11 (possibly evidence of where the scoring may be this week) so he has experience of playing the course in a US Open and being in the mix. He won at Merion in 2013 and from tee to green is up there with the very best. Can he hole some putts? That's the question.
Ireland: Rory McIlroy - The Ulsterman won the Irish Open for the first time last month and has been hinting that his game is very close to its best. His putting has been what's letting him down and he's changed back to the orthodox grip which could be key to his success this week.
Scandinavia: Henrik Stenson - The Swede hasn't been on top form lately but that doesn't worry me. From seeing the course, driving will be critical because there are bunkers and thick rough everywhere if you miss the fairway. Stenson loves his strong 3-wood and if he keeps hitting the fairways I feel he can be up there come the back nine on Sunday.
Rest of Europe: Rafa Cabrera Bello - The Gran Canarian is having a splendid season so far, currently in fourth on the Race to Dubai, with the highlight being his 3rd-place finish at the Dell Match Play where he beat Rory McIlroy in the consolation match.
Asia: Hideki Matsuyama - The world number 15 has a win this year in Phoenix as well as a handful of other top-15 finishes. He looks the complete player and at just 24 he is one of the hottest prospects in the game.
Africa: Branden Grace - The South African could have won this tournament last year had it not been for his tee shot on the 70th hole which he blocked out of bounds on the drivable par-4 16th. He's won plenty of times on the European Tour and recorded his first PGA Tour win this year at Hilton Head Island in the RBC Heritage.
Australasia: Do I even need to tell you who I'll be picking? Of course it's Jason Day. His win record is ridiculous and, despite being compared to Tiger Woods and built-up massively in the media, he'll be mindful that he's only won one major so he's surely hungry for more. His performance at the Players Championship last month was incredible. In the third round when the course became 'unplayable' he ground out a one-over-par 73 despite having two double bogeys. If he really is as good as people think, and I'm in that camp as well, then he should win this week to reaffirm his position as the world's best.
