Golf Monthly Fantasy Focus – It begins in Augusta

In our first Fantasy Golf Blog we take a look at who could do well this week in the first tournament of the Golf Monthly Fantasy Golf League - The Masters

First up for those new to the game it is really easy to sign up and pick a team.

Firstly go to fantasygolf.golf-monthly.co.uk log in and click on My Team.

There you will see a grass background and 10 transparent golf bags. These represent the 10 categories that you will need to pick a golfer from.

To look at the Masters field go to http://www.masters.com/en_US/players/player_list.html this should help you out, last thing you want to do is pick someone who is not in the field.

The categories are split into 10 different geographical zones, so it is very simple to work out who to pick and not pick.

Each week you only get the chance to make 5 transfers, so the people who can plan ahead may do the best!

My Picks

USA 1 - Rickie Fowler – flying slightly under the radar this week – had an incredible 2014 at the Majors

USA 2 - Bubba Watson – Defending champion and having a very solid season

GBLee Westwood – Always solid round Augusta and his game has been looking sharp.

IrelandRory McIlroy – Anyone who doesn’t have Rory must know something we don’t.

ScandinaviaHenrik Stenson – The big-hitting Swede is not a great fan of Augusta but has been striking it as well as anyone recently.

Rest of EuropeSergio Garcia – A tricky decision, but I have gone for the Spaniard who has had three top 10s here in the past

AsiaHideki Matsuyama – Five top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour this season gets my vote.

AfricaErnie Els – A tough choice, changed from Oosthiizen at the last moment due to injury concerns. Els should hold up well in his current for,

AustralsiaAdam Scott – Have gone for the 2013 champion over pretender-to-the-crown Jason Day

South AmericaAngel Cabrera – The horse for this course, a former Champion and runner up… no brainer from this category.

Captain – World Number One Rory McIlroy has the armband this week…. For obvious reasons.

Prizes

Each week you can win a prize so don’t fret if you miss one week, out, you will still have plenty of chances to win.

There are of course great monthly and overall prizes up for grabs.
