27 - Top 50 UK & Ireland Stay and Play Dromoland Castle
Dromoland Castle just north of Limerick is one of the most imposing Baronial Castles in Ireland. Ancestral home of the O'Briens, the family lived there between 1551 and 1962. The course at Dromoland has been in existence since 1962, but the track has been altered dramatically in recent years. The revamped layout is the work of the late JB Carr and Ron Kirby. The owners have invested over 5 million in the project. The stunning castle grounds provide a playground for those interested in outdoor activities and guests can enjoy fishing, falconry, horse riding and clay pigeon shooting. Those who like to put their feet up and take it easy can enjoy the intimate luxury health spa which consists of six treatment rooms, two dedicated manicure and pedicure rooms and an outdoor hydro spa covered with a gazebo so that it can be used throughout the entire year. 22
