Architect: Montgomerie 2006 position: 85 Stats: 6,821 yds; par 72; SSS 73 GF: €75-€135 T: 00353 1651 7721 W: cartonhouse.ie
The Montgomerie course does a good job of creating a links feel in beautiful parkland surroundings.
Monty was apparently inspired by the likes of Royal Melbourne and Royal Troon, and it’s easy to see their design influences in the mix of cavernous bunkers and enormous greens.
The course offers a serious test, particularly from the back tees, where being straight is essential, although you can’t afford to give up too much distance in your attempts to play to handicap.
The wonderful clubhouse and excellent service round off a memorable experience. POH
+ Excellent condition; good test for better golfers - Too hard for high handicappers, especially the fairway bunkers; expensive
