72 BALLYLIFFIN – Glashedy
Architect: Ruddy, Craddock 2006 position: 64 Stats: 6,897 yds; par 72; SSS 73 GF: €50-€140 T: 00353 74 9376 119 W: ballyliffingolfclub
There are two very highly rated courses at Ballyliffin with the Glashedy arguably the better regarded.
Unusually, the holes from the two run in amongst one another; it is therefore just as well that there are excellent direction posts and hole markers.
There are lots of long par 4s with only the 9th and 10th under 400 yards from the back sticks, plus the 6th and 18th if you play off the whites. Testing stuff.
Some holes take you onto higher ground and these each have their own distinct valley. There are some superb coastal and golfing views, particularly from the higher ground. SP
+ Magnificent setting with great views; good value out of season - Difficult to get to; not as natural-feeling as the Old course
