71 MOUNT JULIET
Architect: Nicklaus 2006 position: 63 Stats: 6,926 yds; par 72; SSS 73 GF: €90-€190 T: 00353 56 777 3000 W: mountjuliet.ie
This is a trademark Jack Nicklaus design; a testing parkland layout with many picturesque views and plenty of fabulous, big mature trees.
There are two great stretches, from the 2nd to the 4th, and then again from the 10th to the 14th. On the classic par-5 10th, you can either try to carry a host of tall trees and go straight for the green, or play safe up the left side.
But left is the side to avoid on the closing hole as there is water all the way along it.
The course has enjoyed regular upgrades to keep it in peak condition. SP
+ Top-quality course, facilities and standards of service throughout - Very American layout – out of keeping with surrounding countryside
