Located at the northern end of The Wash on Norfolk's north-west coast, Hunstanton is the east coast championship links that actually faces west. It lies on a long ridge of dunes between The Wash and the River Hun with the better holes on the higher ground closer to the sea. The club began life in 1891, and the course's routing is essentially out-and-in but with a number of directional digressions, especially coming home. The outward half into a cold easterly wind poses a very formidable challenge.
Panellists' comments: "Requires thought from the tee, shot-making of all sorts and a creative mind"; "A real golfer's golf course"
