If Woodhall and Walton feel like links courses somehow misplaced inland, then Formby is the opposite. Although linksy in many ways, magnificent pines line this hugely enjoyable and well-bunkered course. Regular tweaks and improvements over the years - some enforced, some through choice - have only served to strengthen the test.
