Swinley Forest in England has been ranked number 40 in Golf Monthly's 2010 Top 100 golf courses in the UK and Ireland

40 Swinley Forest
Architect: Colt Stats: 6,019 yds, par 68, SSS 70 GF: £80-£160 Visitor information: Visitors accepted by prior arrangement - not weekends W: Not applicable 2008 Ranking: 36 (Down 4) Improvements since 2008 Rankings: Course: Replacement of the irrigation system ongoing Clubhouse: Air-conditioning installed in dining room and redesigned terrace
Yet another glorious Harry Colt design, little appears to have changed here since the course opened for play a century ago. While its illustrious Berkshire neighbours attract visitors in larger numbers and groups, a game at Swinley's relatively short, but delightful and hugely sporty course, will be a much more private, peaceful and intimate affair.
Panellists' comments: "Truly charming"; "What it lacks in length, it more than makes up for in subtlety"; "Legendary lunch"
