The women’s Amy jacket, styled in a classic navy with white accents, offers a smart, clean-cut look similar to last season’s Ally jacket but with a few enhancements. Design-wise, the HydroLite has an a-line waist with cinched with elastic. Giving great shape, we found that it also delivered great maneuverability and we were able to swing freely. It's worth noting that it is longer in the body than some jackets we have tested, but with it being finished with lovely pleated detail on the sides it would suit other activities, such as riding, very comfortably. Overall, if you want a versatile option that features in five different colors to suit your style, then the HydroLite is a great option!

Colors: 1 (Black)
Fabric: 100% Polyester
+ A must-have addition to your winter wardrobe
+ StormCELL waterproof design stops any water from penetrating through
- Lightweight material means you’ll need layers
First things first, the DRYLBL Waterproof Rain Jacket is extremely lightweight, with Puma utilising their patented stormCELL technology to ensure that every inch of the body stays dry. In testing, the rainwater literally ran off the jacket in beads, which is something we see in all of the best golf waterproofs.
Annoyingly, it is only available in one colour but, given that it pretty much co-ordinates with any outfit, we think it would be the most popular choice anyway. Also, one last thing which will appeal to golfers, is the fact that the jacket doesn't rustle in the swing, with the pleasingly quiet acoustics allowing you to fully focus on your swing.

Fabric: 100% Polyester
+ Great choice. 2 leg lengths and 3 colours
+ Stretchy and Comfortable
- Black trousers marked up easily but machine wash brilliantly
Made with a 4-way stretch waterproof fabric, these are really easy to wear and breathe well thanks to a 3-way fabric design that you wouldn’t know about as it is paper thin. They still do feel like waterproofs, only softer and lighter, so I have worn them over joggers or leggings and they are just brilliant. If you want a pair of waterproof trousers to feel and look more like trousers then these are the ones for you.
They are a really flattering style and have many adjustable elements, including an extra popper to the top so you can adjust the waistline and tailor-fit it to you. The trousers have pockets built in and also offer a Velcro entry to your base trouser pockets below. The long leg zips mean you can easily throw them on and off whilst on the course and they stand up to heavy rain and will dry out really fast. In short, these are amazing.

Fabric: Shell - 100% polyester, Pocket Bag: 100% polyester
+ Very lightweight material
+ Seam-sealed zips to prevent water getting into pockets
- The lightweight material isn’t warm unless worn over trousers
These Adidas waterproof trousers are aptly named Rain Rdy and certainly rain ready in their functionality and design. As far as lightweight waterproof trousers go these are one of the best we’ve encountered for the women’s physique thanks to their stretch and generous cut giving unrestricted movement and allowing you to make a fluid full follow through.
They roll up neatly to fit into a small side pocket space of any golf bag. They are quiet and comfortable. The material is cleverly designed to block the wind and rain and ensure that you stay completely dry. All in all an absolute essential buy.
Sizes: XS-XXL
Colors: Black (only)

- Lightweight material isn’t the warmest
As a brand, Puma are champions of using sustainable materials. These women’s waterproof trousers are made from a minimum 70% recycled materials, which is applaudable. They are incredibly lightweight and fold up neatly to fit in the smallest golf bag space.
The material is super quiet and doesn’t rustle when you swing. The seam-sealed side zips ensure that no rain water can get inside your pockets, allowing you to keep your hands warm and dry, which is essential on a wet day. The StormCell technology literally means rain water is repelled.
The size and fit is generous enough that you can slip these on over your trousers and also lightweight so you don’t overheat. As a standalone pair of trousers with nothing worn underneath they’ve a little thin for adequate warmth when it’s cold, but ideal as an over-garment.
Sizes: XS-XXL
Colors: Navy (only)
Fabric: 100% polyester
+ Lovely soft touch material
+ Very warm
- Lightweight material
The Darcey is an incredibly comfortable pair of women’s waterproof and windproof rain trousers. The material is super soft to touch and warm enough to be worn as a stand alone garment without trousers underneath. They are cleverly lightweight enough not to overheat and roll up neatly for easy storage in any golf bag. The noise limiting “swing silent technology” is particularly impressive, there’s no rustle at all.
There are extra Velcro adjusters at your ankles with a pretty ProQuip logo, allowing you to tighten them around your shoes, preventing water seeping in. The generous fit will suit all body shapes, particularly women with curves and a tummy. A shock cord drawstring allows you to tighten or loosen the fit around the waist accordingly.
Sizes: 34-46
Colors: 2 (Black, Navy)
Fabric: Face - 100% Polyester, Lining - 86% Polyester/14% Elastane
+ Premium quality and performance
+ Extra long side zippers for easy access
- Difficult to find fault, but price might determine purchase
The KJUS Women’s Pro 3L 3.0 Pants are top of the range and it’s easy to see why, as they have features that no other rain pants have like a magnetically hidden shoe flat, which stops rain seeping through your shoe laces. The best thing is the long two-way side zippers, which you can open up to your thigh, so there’s no struggling to get these pants on and off over your golf shoes.
The fabric is exceptionally lightweight and with adjusters at the bottom of the pants and at the waist, this allows you to create the most comfortable fit. They’re also stretchy, so I found that I could move freely. There are two zipped side pockets and another zipped pocket at the back, all of which have water resistant zippers. Playing in torrential rain, these pants were superb.
Sizes: S-XXL

Fabric: Facing - 90% Polyamid/10% Elastane, Backer - 00% Polyamide
+ Lightweight and stretchy fabric
+ Comfortable fit
- Premium price point
Galvin Green’s Alina pants offer a flattering, non-baggy fit that comfortably layers over winter golf trousers. Paired with the Ally or Amy waterproof jacket, they make a sleek and functional rain suit.
They feature lightweight, stretchable GORE-TEX Paclite technology, keeping them comfortable and easy to pack away. During testing in light rain over 18 holes, the leg zippers proved a huge convenience for slipping them on over golf shoes, and fleece-lined pockets provided warmth and storage for tees and essentials. Our tester made the most of the adjustable hems and an elastic waistband to ensure a snug fit, and the breathable fabric kept her dry without bulkiness. Perfect for rainy rounds, the Alina pants blend comfort and style for top-notch waterproof protection on the course.

How we test for the best women's golf rain gear
When it comes to testing wet weather gear, and indeed all apparel, our ethos and methodology revolves around putting the gear on, and using it out on the golf course, in different conditions. Obviously to test waterproofing we game the jackets and pants in wet conditions, and we have also gone to extreme measures before, like pouring water all over the jackets to test how seam-sealed they are.
We think the best way of actually testing golf products is to use them thoroughly on the golf course, over a number of rounds, but we also try them off the golf course too because some models are extremely versatile to wear for everyday outdoor activities. We then use these experiences to create reviews and buying advice content. Speaking of which we should make very clear, no manufacturer can buy a good review from us, we tell it how we see it.
How to choose a rain jacket and pants
So what are some of the factors you need to consider when trying to find the right waterproof golf jacket and pants for you? Let's take a look.
Waterproofing
Obviously the most important thing is that a jacket and pants needs to keep you dry. If they don't, they're not worth the investment. Thankfully most of the models above will protect you from the rain because they have been designed with the latest fabric technology to provide 100% waterproof protection.
Be careful when considering wet weather gear because there are many jackets and pants on the market that are described as being waterproof, but they are actually only 'water repellent' and without being seam-sealed are unlikely to protect you from heavy downpours.
We would also recommend checking if some models have a waterproof guarantee, as well as having a look at our best golf rainwear guide.
Protection
A good waterproof jacket and pants will also protect you from the wind and keep you warm too. When the wind is howling, the best models stop it from penetrating through the fabric. Jackets and pants often have fleece-lined pockets for extra cosiness, and jackets have chin guards and high necks to stop rain seeping through.
Color
The good news is that women have a choice of colors. Yes, black and navy still dominates, especially as far as pants are concerned, but there are greater color options for jackets so you can brighten up the fairways when the weather is wet and miserable.
Freedom of movement
Fabric technology for wet weather gear has improved significantly over recent years. Most jackets and pants are far more lightweight and made with plenty of stretch, allowing them to move easily with your body. It's still worth trying on a jacket and pants and having a few swings before you buy.
Another advancement for women is that adjusters at the hem, cuffs and waist, make it possible to create a flattering look, rather than the cumbersome and oversized appearance of days gone by.
Budget
Of course, you need to be aware of your budget as the price of models vary. However, the above jackets and pants come with premium and value price points, so there is something for every female golfer.
