Best Golf Polo Shirts 2024
From classic designs to ones that stand out from the crowd, we collate our favorite golf polo shirts on the market.
Nowadays, the best golf polo shirts look very different to how they did ten or even five years ago, with a whole range of new performance fabrics and technologies used in construction. This is because golf polos have to be able to do a lot of things these days. The best models give a lot of mobility so the athletic movement of the golf swing is not compromised, whilst they also sit comfortably on your torso and arms. A good model will also be lightweight, breathable on those hot days, and even help in terms of wicking sweat, blocking UV rays, and maybe even anti-odor technology.
Finally, they have to look good as well. Some brands and models decide to really push the boat out which is great, whereas some look to have a more understated design so they can be worn anywhere. Acknowledging all of this, below we take a look at some of the best designs on the market. These are shirts that will help you feel and look good on the fairways, allowing you to focus on your game and play your best. Additionally, if you want to complete the ensemble, we recommend checking out some of our other buying guides on the best golf tops and also best golf trousers, so you can get the entire outfit right.

+ Sophisticated finish
+ Premium construction
- Tailored fit not for all
We have tested Peter Millar polo shirts for several years now and we always love the performance on offer, quite simply because the brand thinks of all the details, big and small, that make a good polo shirt. This Tempo Performance Mesh model is another such example of this.
Featuring a classically soft feel synonymous with their polos, the design then features subtle stylish elements such as the vintage-inspired collar, the mother-of-pearl buttons and a tailored fit. Admittedly that last element won’t suit all, but I loved it and I loved the performance from this polo. It looks great, feels soft and comfortable, stretched easily, and has wicking and odour-resistant properties. A complete golf polo shirt that looks great everywhere.

+ Stylish, chest stripe design
+ Smart fit
- Collar is smart but slightly firm
If you are thinking of investing in Galvin Green apparel, you’ll be expecting something that looks smart and performs specifically for golf. The Macoy polo ticks both boxes perfectly. First and foremost, we loved the smart fit which is athletic without being too tight. The chest stripe pattern is bold and modern without being too fussy. You can wear this polo at any time of year with trousers or shorts.
The fabric is light and breathable whilst also offering 20+ UV protection. This makes it ideal for long, hot days on the golf course. However, you can also easily wear this with a base layer underneath. Either way, you’ll look smart.

+ Athletic fit with 4-way stretch
+ 3 button design with spread
- Tailored fit not for all
There’s no doubt G/FORE are one of the industry leaders when it comes to golf apparel. The ability to add a modern twist to traditional apparel is something the brand excel at. This Rib Gusset Melange Ice Nylon Polo is the perfect example of that. The athletic fit and 4-way stretch make this polo an instant favourite among those we’ve tested this year.
The spread color gives this polo a smart look and isn’t at all intrusive when it comes to throwing a sweater or quarter-zip on over the top. The rib gusset detailing under the arms provides some breathability and also assists with motion so you can swing with ultimate freedom. The silicone logo on the back adds a classy touch to an otherwise really well-rounded polo shirt.

+ Lightweight, soft material
+ Enhanced stretch for comfort
- Head-turning print won’t suit all tastes
It wouldn’t be unfair to suggest that not everyone will enjoy the playful print found on this polo shirt but for those that want to stand out on the course, it’s a great option. Featuring Original Penguin’s mascot Pete, this shirt is noticeably soft and lightweight which really enhances the comfort you experience.
The moisture wicking properties also enhance this feature - at no point did we notice the effect of sweat building up while playing in this shirt on the course. The fit around the torso is spot on although the arms were a little baggy, which detracts a little from the look. The stretch on offer from this shirt is noticeably generous, which really boosts the playing experience.

+ Stylish look
+ Stretchy fabric and breathable
- Poppers instead of button-collar
This is a very comfortable garment from adidas. It's a great shirt to wear in the summer months but also one that can work well in colder temperatures with a baselayer underneath and layers over the top. We’re big fans of the striking pink pattern, which goes well with all the base colors like black, navy and grey.
It only comes in one color option, which is a shame as the pattern is very cool and would look great in black, grey and other colorways. The polo is made from ‘at least’ 70% recycled material so you’ll be doing your bit to help the environment. One critique is the popper closure system, which some may enjoy but there’s nothing wrong with buttons, right? We found the fit to be just as expected to go with your usual size.
Sizes: S-XXL

+ Fun design
+ No iron required
+ Comfortable fit
- More of a niche taste
Golf would be boring if everyone wore the same clothing, and whilst this fun design won’t be for everyone, such styles and patterns are becoming more popular. You wouldn’t look out of place sitting on a beach with a cocktail in hand wearing this shirt, which, as the name would suggest, features a golf ball and tee pattern. In terms of the fit, it’s more regular than athletic, which will suit a wide range of golfers.
It’s quick to dry and an iron isn’t required, which are also pluses. If you like your golf clothing to be more quirky and less standard, and you want to stand out from the crowd, you’ll like this offering from Callaway. The peacoat (navy) looks really smart, and will hide the odd stain, unlike the bright white.
Sizes: XS-4XL

+ Simple and effective design
+ Very flexible and versatile
- Long sleeves can feel restrictive when swinging
Part of the Victory range, this polo focuses heavily on sweat-wicking comfort and slick style. Its versatility provides warmth for golfers who may have a chilly early-morning tee time, whilst also feeling lightweight and airy during the warmer summer months, where the sleeves can be adjusted to your liking. For golfers that prefer free arms, the long sleeves are stretchy and elastic, which can be pushed up the arm with ease while maintaining a fashionable look.
As a result of the smooth material made from 100% recycled polyester fibres, it’s very easy to slip on a pullover or jacket with this polo underneath. The collar provides the choice of doing up one or two buttons and later doesn’t impair on the neck whatsoever. This polo is perfect for golfers who play all year round.
Sizes: S-XXXL
Colors: 15+
+ Soft fabric provides plenty of comfort throughout the round
+ Stretchy material doesn’t restrict swing or movement
- Looser fitting, won't suit those who like more fitted shirts
From the moment you pull on this fantastic-looking, premium feel polo shirt you will instantly feel the part. The soft anti-pick, anti-pill fabric is not only breathable and lightweight, but also dries quickly leaving you feeling comfortable throughout your round. The looser fit provides a classic look, while the four-way stretchable material ensures that your swing and movement won’t be inhibited – allowing you to play your best golf.
The 3-button fastening gives you the option to wear it your way and the shirt looks just as good tucked in as it does untucked, allowing you to wear it both on and off the course. This polo shirt is perfect for golfers who want to feel fashionable while also keeping that traditional classic look that many associate with this iconic sport.
Sizes: S-XXL

+ Lightweight & breathable
+ Classic design
- Very long in fit
Lightweight, breathable and comfortable are the three words that spring to mind when wearing this polo. Aesthetically, it offers a classic look with its regular polo tailoring, the length is slightly long but suitable for tucking in. From a feel perspective it boasts a modern performance touch in its wearability and encourages freedom of movement.
The linear Oscar Jacobson logo on the right sleeve and the traditional logo on the chest, emphasize the classic look of the polo making it a great item for both on and off course.
Sizes: S-XXXL
Colors: 6
+ Stretchy fabric makes it comfortable
+ 100% recycled
+ Button-down collar looks neat
- Wouldn’t wear this off course
The Lenny Jacquard polo shirt is made from 100% recycled polyester making it stretchy and breathable as well as environmentally friendly. The design is understated, using a single color (six available) with a triangular jacquard pattern and Ping logos on the sleave and shoulder. The concealed button-down collar is a nice touch which means the polo looks neat and tidy and won’t flap in strong winds.
It’s also crease resistant and quick drying, making it very straightforward to take care of. The medium size I tested was a tighter fit than some so be sure to check the sizing guide before you make a purchase. I’m not sure this is a polo shirt I’d wear away from the course so it’s maybe not as versatile as some I’ve tried.
Sizes: S-XXL

+ Eye catching print design
+ Great fit
- Overall look will divide opinion
The first thing we noticed about the Pique Borrego is the bright, bold pattern which will, undoubtedly, divide opinion. Personally, we loved the design, as although it's colorful, it's not so over the top that it's off-putting when out on the course or addressing the golf ball. Another nice touch is the block coloring on the collar and also the way the shirt stays tucked in whilst walking and swinging the golf club.
Personally, we would like to see more colors but, what can't be argued, though, is the fit. It strikes the balance of being neither tight nor loose perfectly, with there being no restriction of movement whatsoever. Also, because of its DryCell technology, it provides great temperature control in both warm conditions, as well as cooler and dryer environments.
Sizes: S-XXL

+ Stylish
+ Adaptable for different environments

- Heavy material not easy to play in
Certainly for the forward fashion thinking golfer, the Print polo undoubtedly offers an alternative style of polo for the golf course. Adventurous in its design that offers a warped take on the JL logo, aesthetically it offers something unique whilst staying within the limits of an expected golf polo.
The heavy knit design makes it great for off the course, but is limiting in terms of playing golf. Both heavy and tight fitting, the movability when swinging a club is a little limited and definitely adverse to winter weather conditions.
Sizes: S-XXXL

+ Simple, versatile appearance
+ Super thin, lightweight material
- Very fitted if you have skipped any gym sessions!
The Crew Clothing Smart Golf Polo Shirt is a really solid and great value option for any player. Made from 85% Nylon and 15% Elastane, this is one of the most lightweight and flexible polo shirts we have tried. The weight coupled with the very smooth finish means that you barely know you are wearing it.
Something to note is that this is a very fitted polo so if you are self-conscious then it may be worth considering going up a size to allow some wiggle room. With ten colour options and a very reasonable price, this is a good item to consider block buying as a base piece for numerous outfits. If you are looking for a very lightweight polo with excellent breathability, then this should definitely be a consideration.
Sizes: S-XXL
Colors: 6
+ Good fit
+ Good quality
+ Slim waist with ribbed hem
- Not the most moisture wicking
The Play Well polo from Sounder is made from sustainably sourced cotton and is a well designed, high quality polo shirt. The cotton has an element of stretch to it and the fit was just as I’d hoped so purchasing your usual size is the way to go. It feels lovely to wear and has clearly been made with premium materials.
The ribbed collar and cuffs give it some nice definition and the ‘ribbed hem’ waist is a very nice touch to keep a tighter fit around the waist for a smart look, especially when you don’t want to tuck your shirt in. The styling of the Mid Grey/Natural version is very minimalist and unoffensive with stripes and a small Sounder star logo, and there’s six color options to choose from.
Sizes: S-XXL
Colors: 17
+ Well made with ample color options
+ Super thin, lightweight material
- The structured collar may not be to every taste
The B Draddy Vin Polo Shirt is a really solid and great value option for any player. Made from Peruvian Pima cotton, this is one of the most lightweight and flexible polo shirts we have tried. The structured collar and breast pocket adds a smart touch to a polo that is available in just about every colour you could imagine.
The fit is probably just about right in the middle of ‘regular’. Not clingy enough to offend the self-conscious, but fitted enough to not look slouchy or scruffy, and there is plenty of length in the body to avoid the annoyance of the ‘follow through un-tuck’ which is great for those long in the torso. If you are looking for a very lightweight polo with excellent breathability, then this should definitely be a consideration.
Sizes: S-XXL
Colors: 2
+ Good fit
+ Splashes of color
+ Stretchy fabric
- Not the most forgiving for body-conscious golfers
This Men’s Marco Drycool polo is a solid offering from Abacus and is a garment that can be worn all year round, thanks to its Drycool and breathable technologies. It also works well in the colder months and the snug fit is effective as the first layer of protection when conditions turn slightly more chilly.
The design of the polo is appealing – the printed stripes across the upper half offer a splash of colour and variety, and there are two different colour palettes to choose from. It comes with a knitted collar and the three buttons enable you to tailor the fit.
Sizes: S-XXXL
Colors: 2
+ Very soft fabric enhances comfort
+ High collar design boosts style
- Relaxed fit won’t please all
This is probably one of the best-looking plain or one color block polo shirts we’ve ever tried, mainly down to how soft and stretchy the material is. The sensation when you slide it on for the first time is genuinely unique and makes for a really enjoyable wearing experience. The fit is undoubtedly on the loose side versus a lot of the best golf polo shirts, but this is advertised in the name and for those that prefer a more relaxed fit and feel to their golf shirts, this one will do the job nicely.
We also enjoyed the tall collar with PXG logo and the use of poppers instead of buttons, which you could argue are less time consuming to fasten. If you’re looking for a simple but performance-focused golf polo, this shirt is well worth considering.
Sizes: S-XXL
Colors: 20
+ Incredible choice of colors
+ Highly functional
+ Athletic fit
- Simple styling
The ProQuip Pro-Tech Solid Color polo shirt is a solid, practical item of clothing that won’t let you down. You get an impressive amount of technology for your money and it’s a polo that can be worn all year round.
In summer, the built-in UV protection will keep the sun’s rays at bay, and in winter, the stretch fabric will give you complete freedom of movement, which is essential for the bottom of multiple layers. It also regulates temperature effectively and fits athletically. There is an enormous 20 color options to choose from, but the styling is one-tone and basic.
Sizes: S-XXL

+ Modern, trendy color choices
+ Relaxed fit
- Only uses polyester
A clean and classic polo that can be the foundation of any golf outfit. The Course Polo has a regular to more relaxed fit and utilizes a breathable, moisture-wicking fabric to enhance performance and keep moisture away from your body. The fit also lends itself to a more casual golfer and we think it looks much better untucked than it does tucked in.
The side mesh panelling is a really nice touch that adds both a practical and stylish final touch to this polo. Practically, it frees the polo up to flex with your body through the swing and from a style point of view it adds a nice contrast. A well thought through and executed polo.
Sizes: M-XXXL
Colors: 5
+ Good value for a classic plain polo
+ Long enough to stay tucked in as you swing
- You’re looking for something a little more adventurous
There’s a lot of choice in the plain polo market, which can make it hard to really stand out from the crowd. The competitive price is obviously a big pull here as you could get two of three of these for the price of one premium shirt and it probably has a more premium look and feel than its price tag might suggest.
These high-sheen manmade fabrics can sometimes be a bit of a pain when it comes to staying tucked in as you play, but this one is long enough to largely stay put. The colour palette errs perhaps a little on the ‘safe’ side, although the Bermuda Grass option does bring the chance for a little more flamboyance. Overall, a decent polo at a more than decent price.
Sizes: S-3XL
Colors: 6
+ Extremely versatile
+ Six color options
- Athletic fit may not be to everyone's taste
Is there a better feeling than putting on your favourite polo for a round of weekend golf in the sun? Well, there’s a good chance the TravisMathew Warmer Tides Scoop polo may become just that, as its modern fit is the perfect blend between being flattering and loose enough in the right areas without restricting the swing.
Looks-wise, the pattern is reminiscent of reflections on pool water and instantly reminds us of summer. This is likely how it got its name! What's more, the pattern is subtle enough that it makes this polo very versatile, so much so, it will look good both on and off of the golf course. Finally, to top it off, this polo is available in six colors so you can rock it nearly every day of the week!
Sizes: XS-5XL
Colors: 10
+ Vast number of color options
+ Comfortable, lightweight fabric
- Fit was on the snug side
If you are looking for a simple, modern polo shirt to wear both on and off course, Lululemon’s Evolution option is well worth considering. The brand has used a technical fabric here that’s been designed to inhibit ‘the growth of odor-causing bacteria’. Basically, that means you should stay fresh throughout a day of golf. We tested the navy version (there are nine other colors to choose from) and were particularly impressed by the level of comfort on offer. Whilst some technical fabrics can feel scratchy and synthetic, this is much softer than many others you’ll find on the market.
In terms of the styling, there’s not much to it - the classic, simple look fits within the Lululemon range and means you can wear this with a range of different trousers or shorts. The large size we tested was on the snug side but that created a smart look that perfectly contrasts the comfortable feel.
Sizes: XXS-3XL
Colors: 2
+ Simple, classic aesthetic
+ Tour-proven
- Roomy fit
Adam Scott was wearing this shirt at the 2024 PGA Championship and I was lucky enough to get sent a sample for review. First I really liked the simple styling, some will say it is bland, but I love the understated finish along with the collar stripe to add a degree of style. Speaking of which, I was wary of the collar because it looked like a blade design, but it isn’t and is closer to a standard polo design, which I like. Available in navy and off-white, along with loads of sizes, it will suit a lot of golfers out there.
Made from a mixture of polyester, nylon, and recycled polyester, the shirt features ‘Dry-Ex’ technology which provides moisture/sweat management well, whilst it also has something called ‘Cool Touch’ yarns designed to give an instant cooling sensation. I must admit it was hard to feel this but clearly it worked in the background because during testing I felt very cool and fresh throughout.
Size: S-2XL
Colors: Several designs
+ Lightweight comfortable
+ Several designs available
- Premium price point
In a short time technology has come a long way in the production of golf apparel. The Featherweight Performance polo collection has raised the bar to epic Olympic proportions when it comes to lightweight performance. Weighing in at a stunning 60 GSM (grams per square meter) lighter than their standard jersey performance polos, these polos, of which I am wearing the Double Eagle Stripe finish above, exude quality right from the moment of opening the packet.
This featherweight collection of polos wick away sweat, they regulate heat and also have a built-in UPF 50 sun protection factor. They come in several colors and designs with stripes, solid colors, and all over print finishes as well. Overall this is possibly the most comfortable feeling golf polo that I own.
Sizes: S-XXL
Colors: 5
+ Classic design
+ Lightweight, stretchy material
- Sizing is on the large side
It is hard to think of a garment that’s more classic, simple and chic than this striped polo shirt from Stitch Golf. The Atlantic Stripe (blue) version we tested would go with just about any choice of trousers or shorts, making it an ideal staple for any golfer’s wardrobe.
Whilst the aesthetic is classic, there are plenty of modern touches we appreciated. The collar features a clever, underside button to keep it from flaring up and ensuring the shirt continues to look smart throughout the day. We also liked the lightweight and stretchy fabric, with fit being traditional but, pleasingly, not baggy. However, one aspect to note is that the sizing is on the large side which is worth keeping in mind. Overall though, Stitch has perfectly balanced sporty and smart here in one of the most simple and versatile premium polo shirts on the market.
Sizes: S-3XL

+ Super cool, stretchy fabric
+ Unique pattern
- FootJoy branding quite low-key
This modern polo feels soft and cool against the skin, with the performance fabrics making it extremely comfortable to wear in hot and humid conditions. The thin lines that run across it make for an eye-catching pattern, taking it from what you’d call a ‘standard block’ to something a little different – neither plain or particularly bold, which is a style that’s sure to appeal to a wide range of golfers.
The stitching on the buttons adds a little extra colour, too, and you’ll find a great number of other FootJoy garments in the spring/summer 2024 range that can be combined for a really smart look. It’s easy to wash, lightweight and quick to dry, and can be ironed on cool, although it doesn’t really need to be.
Sizes: S - XXL

+ Cool, contemporary look
+ Flattering cut and material
- May be on the heavy side for some
Macade Golf are at the forefront of golf fashions advancement into the modern era and we have been big fans of their edgy look for a while now. This Heath Bomber shirt fits seamlessly into their range, with its constriction made from 75% polyamide and 25% spandex.
It is a little thicker than some other models, which we loved, with the additional weight giving the shirt excellent structure, as well as being flattering on any unwanted lumps and bumps you may have! The blade collar and smart accent colors also give a real contemporary look and the spandex allows the shirt to move freely as you swing. We tested the white shirt, but the other block colors in the range make this a really versatile piece, easy to pair with whichever mid layer you choose.
How we test golf apparel
We test golf apparel in the same way we test all golf equipment, by using products properly. In relation to polo shirts this means putting them to the test out on the golf course to see if the design is well thought out, if it moves nicely throughout the swing, and simply is the polo is usable. Additionally, wearing it on the course in different conditions gives us an idea on breathability, warmth if needed, and looks.
We would also wear the polos off the golf course as well because versatility to use a garment anywhere is a great way to get value for money. The final point we wanted to mention here is no manufacturer can pay for a good review because our thorough testing team tells it how it is.
How to choose the right polo shirt
As mentioned, there is a lot to think about when picking the right polo shirt for you. With that in mind, we have come up with several things for you to think about before purchasing.
1. Length
During the golf swing if you find your shirt coming untucked often, or your belly starts to show then you should think about a polo with a longer length. That way it will remain tucked in throughout the round and beyond.
2. Fit
Do you want a more loose fitting polo or something with more of an athletic fit? Slim fit or classic fit? Most polos come in lots of sizes so be wary of getting something that isn't fitting correctly for you.
3. Sleeves
It doesn't sound that important, but a polo with sleeves too long or too short can be annoying. They should come to the middle of the upper arm, and the seam should align with the middle of the shoulders.
4. Fabric
Have a think about what fabric you would like the polo to be made from. For example, there are loads of materials used these days such as polyester, spandex, lycra, nylon and cotton. Often polos are made with a combination of these.
5. Technology
Most brands make polo shirts that offer technology to help in a variety of ways. For example, many help with moisture management and sweat wicking which keeps the body dry and comfortable. Some also offer UV protection and anti-microbial properties too, so it is worth thinking about what aspect you find important here. Of course, several of the models above have been designed with all of these facets in mind.
6. Design
Striped? Floral? An all-over print? Gone are the days of drab boring polo designs and in modern golf most brands really push the boat out. The sheer array of polo shirts we picked out above shows this clearly. Whatever fashion sense you have, there will be a polo for you.
7. Price
Of course the price is always something people should think about. There is great value to be had with the models above but there are also more premium models for those wanting to spend a little more. Put simply, there is something for everyone.
FAQs
What is the difference between a polo shirt and a golf shirt?
The main difference between a normal polo shirt and a golf shirt is the fabric used in construction. Most polos are made from fabrics like cotton and linen whilst golf polos are often made with a combination of fabrics like spandex, polyester and also cotton. After all, the golf polo has to be able to stretch and deal with the athletic movement of a golf swing.
Can you wear golf polos casually?
The short answer here is yes but it has to be the right shirt. Many of the models we selected in our best golf polos guide have understated designs that would look at home off the golf course, whilst others are perhaps best suited for the links and not many other places.
What makes a good golf polo?
A good golf polo does a lot of things. It has to be breathable, lightweight, help with sweat, protect from the sun, feel comfortable, and also look good as well. We also think the best designs can be versatile enough to be used anywhere.
