Toptracer technology is one of the products featured in our Editor's Choice product list for 2021.
Toptracer
Toptracer technology isn’t only transforming how we watch golf on our screens but also how we practise golf on the range.
Toptracer uses two cameras mounted above range bays to capture data on every shot and relay it – via the image analysis software – on to screens that display stats in whatever mode is selected. These include long-drive competitions, a nearest-the-pin game or a skills challenge - including the excellent Go Fish game that gets kids ‘hooked’ on golf.
You even have the option to play your favourite courses from around the world – perhaps St Andrews or Pebble Beach – from the comfort of your bay.
Wealth Of Information
As well as displaying ball flight, the custom-built sensors provide real-time shot analytics such as ball speed, apex, curve, carry and more. 3D ball-flight data can then be integrated with virtual graphics to animate the trajectory in a format that’s easy to digest.

For pros and serious golfers, this is meaningful data that can be used to improve performance. With Toptracer now installed on over 10,000 bays across 400 locations worldwide, practice has become more productive and more fun for every level of player.
On the topic of fun, Toptracer recently announced a new Driving Challenge game option, tapping into most golfers’ desires to hit it longer and straighter off the tee. Up to eight users can compete simultaneously over nine holes, with a virtual flyover of each hole suggesting where best to place the drive to score maximum points based on length and accuracy.
Toptracer Goes Mobile
Another recent addition has been Toptracer Range Mobile, engineered specifically for uncovered driving ranges. The first UK installation is at Essendon Country Club. It is an entirely data-driven system that uses sensors mounted around a facility to optimise practice sessions by sending shot traces and detailed analytics directly to guests’ mobile devices.
If you are yet to experience Toptracer, we’re sure it won’t be long before you come across it and get to enjoy the experience it provides.
