TaylorMade TP5 Pix
Golfers use all sorts of lines and graphics on their balls to help them with alignment on the greens. Whether it’s a single line, three lines, a T-shape or something more elaborate, the end goal is always the same – get the ball in the hole.
Editor's Choice 2020
Rickie Fowler joined the TaylorMade staff as a ball player last year and has been working with designers and engineers ever since to come up with an alignment concept that works.
The original TaylorMade Pix ball, which was only available in America last year, featured fire-like graphics. But now a new and improved version is on sale in Europe on both the TP5 and TP5x designs said to assist with alignment and focus on the greens.

The system is called ClearPath alignment, which comprises 12 pixellated, triangle-shaped graphics that are strategically placed to provide immediate feedback as to how the ball is rolling.
It does this by the inside of the triangles being dark orange, framing the TaylorMade logo and sidestamp. Get the ball rolling perfectly and they should form two straight lines once in motion tracking towards the hole. The use of two contrasting colours on the graphics supposedly makes them more visible in different light conditions.

While other systems might provide more effective alignment for some golfers, the visual effect you get when you roll the ball online with the TP5 Pix is compelling and enlightening.
Coloured golf balls and more unorthodox designs are becoming increasingly popular but with TP5 Pix, there is a tangible performance benefit. Clearly much thought has gone into the design and with Rickie Fowler being one of the best putters in the game, his input is worth taking notice of. So if you’re struggling on the greens, perhaps a switch could turn your fortunes around.
