Mizuno ST200G Driver
Mizuno’s drivers may have lacked the tour presence of other brands in recent years, but if ever a new model was going to change that, this new ST200G, part of a family of three new ST200 models for 2020, could be just the one.
Editor's Choice 2020
The weight savings from Mizuno’s compacted Wave Sole and variable-thickness graphite crown are among the keys to performance, allowing weight distribution to be optimised. The sole features two 7g weights mounted on now longer external tracks to allow for even more effective fine-tuning in the quest for a set-up that best suits your swing and launch characteristics.
We feel that this is a great-looking driver. Mizuno has retained its classic driver address view, so we were delighted to find that the performance matched the looks when we put it up against its GT180 predecessor from two years ago and one of 2020’s most played drivers on tour.

A powerful performer
The sound and feel off the face are just how we like them - incredibly solid and stable, with a fairly loud but not overpowering sound as a result of the graphite crown. When a club sounds and feels right, you hope that this will convert into performance too, and it certainly did for us with the ST200G, which was 15 yards past its Mizuno predecessor and highly effective at converting clubhead speed into ball speed.

Spin rates were spot-on too, delivering a nice high flight that seemed to stay up there forever and really maximise distance.
The G version is a little more expensive than the other two models, but even so, its price compares favourably with the tour’s most played driver brands, which could be another very good reason to stick this on your shortlist if you’re in the market for a new driver this year. We don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
