Bushnell Tour V5 Shift
Things have come a long way in a short space of time in the rangefinder world as golfers seek ever more trustworthy distance information before committing to a shot.
Editor's Choice 2020
Bushnell continues to innovate, and the latest Tour V5 Shift model is a really excellent piece of kit that will do pretty much everything you could ask for. Its Fast Focus system returns yardages quickly, with the new visual JOLT technology (a flashing red ring now accompanies the vibration) providing you with an extra dose of assurance that you’ve successfully locked on to the flag. It works extremely well.
If you play a lot of golf in a buggy, Bushnell’s Bite technology incorporates a powerful inbuilt magnet so you can attach it to the buggy frame (or any metal surface) for quick access and less faff when you get to your ball.

The range is an impressive 400+ yards to a flag and new clearer optics make everything easier to read, whatever the weather conditions. It’s rainproof too, which is always handy within these shores.
Slope as an option
The Shift version that we’ve chosen for our Editor’s Choice awards is £60 more expensive, but it also has the capability to provide slope-adjusted distances via a new algorithm that makes them even more accurate.

Of course, you can’t use such a feature under the Rules of Golf, but the device has a simple switch that allows you to turn slope mode on and off, so you can use it when you play in competitions as well as reaping the extra benefits in friendly games or practice rounds.
We think it’s worth paying the extra as we believe that seeing how yardages are adjusted when using the slope mode will give you a better understanding of the effect slope will have on clubbing in competition rounds when you’re only able to eyeball the terrain.
