Turnberry - Ailsa Course

Of all the views caught from the rugged links of Scotland's coastline, there are none as spectacular as those gained from up on the fairways of Turnberry's Ailsa course.
The Ailsa starts with three attractive par 4s before you begin a brilliant stretch of coastline golf that contains several of the world's most dramatic holes. It is here were if the wind blows a good score comes under a tough natural attack. The 8th to the 10 is a particularly breathtaking experience - the tee shot over the rocky bay at the 9th hole alone is justification enough to visit Turnberry.
The course travels inland after the turn but continues to test and please in equal measure until the final bunkerless green has safely been found. Stepping off that final, returning to the clubhouse for a well earned beer, you'll realise why this is one of the most popular Open venues on the rota.
Best Hole: There are loads to choose from but the 9th lingers longest in the memory. The drive is a fairly daunting prospect and requires serious bottle.
