My Game - Marc Warren
Golf Monthly talks shop with Scotland's newest hero
From the moment he sunk the winning putt at the 2001 Walker Cup Marc Warren seemed destined to make his name as one of the world?s great match play golfers.
After his partnership with Colin Montgomerie in a sensational victory for Scotland at the 2007 Mission Hills World Cup, Warren now appears a lock to compete with Team Europe at the most prestigious match play event of them all, the Ryder Cup.
Warren?s accomplishments on the European Tour aren?t too shabby either. In 2006, he joined an elite list of Scotsman including Sandy Lyle and Montie to be awarded the Sir Henry Cotton trophy for Rookie of the Year.
Having already won the Johnny Walker Championship and World Cup this year, one could argue that Warren has at least eclipsed a fellow Glaswegian who lives at 10 Downing Street as the most popular Scotsman in the UK.
Career Highlights:
- Brought home the Challenge Tour Order of Merit and Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year awards in consecutive years (2005-?06)
- Won his home tournament at the 2007 Johnny Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
