Designed by James Braid and opened in 1933, Fulford Heath is one of the Midlands? most notable golf courses.
The River Cole winds it?s way through much of it and along with three lakes and large expanses of mature woodland it provides definition to the holes and a challenge to the golfers.
There are many interesting holes but perhaps the trio which stand out the most are the 11th, 12th and 16th. The 11th might only be 149 yards long, but it is played from an elevated tee through a chute of trees to a small, well-protected green.
The next hole, the 361 yard 12th, has the River Mole as a constant companion forcing the golfer to concentrate their aim from tee to green. The 16th is featured below in the Best Hole section.
The subtlety of design and carefully managed maturity of the course offers rewards to the strategic golfer when approaching the greens by the best route.
Best Hole:16th 166 yards par 3. If you have a decent score going and are able to leave this hole having banked par or better you should register a good round. Requirs an accurate mid iron over a lake to an elevated green. Sounds simple.
