Often described as the 'Wentworth of the North', Forest Pines Golf Club has become a much talked about track since it opened just over a decade ago.
The course has been carved out of dense pine forest and the designer John Morgan was at pains to leave as much of the woodland in tact as possible. And, to his credit he has succeed in this tricky task by pinching the width of the fairways. In fact some seem thinner than a super-model's stomach! The result is a truly beautiful course that really makes you concentrate on every shot, especially from the tee.
A great all year round course thanks to the sandy-based soil, it is playable when a lot of places are closed and in the summer the undulating greens become very slippery indeed!
Best Hole: It really is difficult to think of one hole that stands head and shoulders above the rest but the forest holes are definitely the best stretch.
Location: Ermine St, Broughton, Nr Brigg, N Lincolnshire, DN20
Green fees: £36 per round, £48 per day
