Dooks
Dooks it out
Dooks, opened at the end of the 19th century, is one of Ireland?s oldest courses. You will have to shoot it straight to get around this 6,055 yds long Par 70 links course, neatly placed among sand dunes at the head of Dingle Bay.
Warm up well before starting as the 1st and 2nd holes at Dooks are as they are as tough as any on the course. After the tough first (see below for more) you reach a 300 yarder that plays downwind. Trust us it's harder than it sounds.
The short signature 13th, nicknamed the "Saucer", is another test of accuracy and nerve. Golfers should pause to admire some spectacular scenery: on one side are the swirling waters of the Atlantic. On the other are the famous McGillycuddy Reeks, the highest group of mountains in Ireland.
Best HoleFrom the tee on the 419 yards 1st the drive is seaward to an elevated fairway. Play is usually straight into the wind and even the best players will struggle to achieve a par 4.
