Nestled cosily in Northumberland?s Embleton Bay, Dunstanburgh makes great use of coastal contours and remains untouched by modern design. It loops around the bay with many holes running along the beach, offering spectacular views of the Heritage Coastline.
Course lowdown: Players must be able to play knock-down shots to master the winds of Embleton Bay. You must also trust the yardages on approach shots. The bunkers are staggered and make the greens seem closer than they actually are. The toughtest hole, the 9th, is exposed to severe winds, so a long, straight drive is required. The approach must carry the hollow in front of the green. The 13th, the best par 3, is only 105 yards long but a disused quarry bridges the gap between tee and green.
